The gaming experience of "The Game of Sudan"

Recently, I have been addicted to the game "Sultan," and I have spent 13 hours completing two endings: one is the full card tear, and the other is the rebellion line. Let's consider this a second playthrough; in fact, there are still many plot contents that I haven't experienced yet, but there have been too many things happening recently, so I'll take it slow.

Game Overview#

In simple terms, this is a card + turn-based strategy + RPG game. Players need to play the role of the protagonist who is granted power by the Sultan (using Sultan cards) and reasonably plan their cards in each turn to ultimately lead the story to different endings.

The Sultan cards are quite important, with a total of 4 types: indulgence, conquest, luxury, and slaughter. After drawing a Sultan card, players must complete an event that matches the type within 7 days to tear the card; otherwise, the protagonist will die. At the same time, the cards are divided into four rarities: gold, silver, bronze, and rock, and the targets participating in Sultan card events must have a rarity equal to or greater than that of the Sultan card to be destroyed.

The overall strategy is to place different cards to handle events each turn (1 day) and destroy Sultan cards under reasonable conditions, ultimately leading to different endings.

Is it fun?#

As of April 18, the game still has a 92% positive rating on Steam, which indeed makes it fun. image It depends on the excellent plot and text of the game; the experience in the first few playthroughs was indeed very engaging. (When I was playing with friends, I lost track of time and it was already dawn) image Every decision I make in the game affects the subsequent developments and endings like a butterfly effect, while also facing my moral choices and conflicts in the plot. For example, my silver indulgence only has one day left, but my wife is still at bronze level, so I can't indulge. In desperation, I can only go to the pleasure house with Summer (a character in the game), resulting in "wife's dissatisfaction" the next day. Or when I draw a slaughter card and have no time to eliminate it, I can only make a cruel sacrifice (killing my followers).

This narrative structure filled with randomness not only keeps the game fresh but also stimulates the exploration of new possibilities. Coupled with certain unexpected yet reasonable items, the story is filled with an unknown mystery, absurdity, and randomness || I'm talking about you, two-headed dragon || The story is for you to explore, so I won't go into too much detail here. image

Disadvantages in Experience#

First of all, there is no save mechanism during the game, which means that after finishing an ending, you have to start all over again. This is quite fatal for a game with multiple endings. After completing the second playthrough, I also began to fall into a slump; starting a new resolution requires repeating a lot of already experienced content, which is too tedious! I'm here for the plot, not to let the turns play me.

Secondly, as the game progresses to the later stages, the number and types of cards become very numerous, and you need to search for the cards you need among a vast array of cards. Although the game team designed four slots, the classification of cards still needs to be handled by the player. I hope they can increase the slots and automatically organize the cards instead of spending a lot of time organizing my hand every turn.

The experience with equipment is also not very good; I often don't know who is equipped with what, and there is no interface to intuitively see everyone's equipment. You can only click on each one to check, and the feedback for dragging equipment onto characters is not very good; sometimes you have to drag an item several times.

Conclusion#

Overall, it is still a good game. The first week's sales have also exceeded 250,000 copies, and the price of 89 RMB is not particularly expensive. However, I still recommend that friends experience it after the save function is released, unless you really like it~ I also hope the development team can release more character storylines qwq || I want to see more stories of political enemies ||
